Fayose accuses Buhari of running government of nepotism, vows to replace President in 2019
The governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday described President Muhammadu Buhari’s government as anti-Ekiti, accusing it making no budgetary provision for the state in the 2017 appropriation law.
He has also vowed to contest the 2019 presidential election.
Fayose said the people of the state will revolt against the APCduring the 2018 governorship poll owing to lacklustre
performance of the APC-led federal government and its insensitivity to the plights of Ekiti populace.
The government accused the federal government of sweeping under the carpet, the panel set up to try many of the APC’s cronies.
The governor said these while addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters at the government house in Ado Ekiti during a ceremony commemorating the third anniversary of his victory in the governorship poll held on June 21, 2014 in the state.
Fayose defeated the then incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi in all the 16 local government areas, which led to the formulation of an acronym ’16-0’ in the PDP’s political slogan.
The crowd were mobilized from all the local governments by party leaders, with many of them clad in a vest with the inscription ‘Continuity in 2018, Let’s Make it 16-0 Again’.
After the governor’s address, they marched through Fajuyi Park to Ojumose and stopped at the popular Old garage in a show of strength and force as well as readiness for 2018 poll.
Fayose said: “The policy of Buhari’s government is anti-Ekiti. If you check properly, nothing was budgeted as a project for Ekiti in 2017 budget. That is why Nigeria must be restructured, so that a state can control its own resources.
“The APC-led federal government is fighting everybody, the judiciary and legislators as well as the press were not spared. They are running a lawless government and that was why they refused to release Col Bello Dasuki and El-Zakky Zakky despite court orders. This is not the kind of Nigeria of our dream.
“The APC will be upset in 2018, we will crush them and that is why you have to be strong and firm. I am a leader in Nigeria and nobody can gag or cow me, because this country belongs to all of us. Today, Nigerians are hungry and angry. There is so much nepotism and poverty in the land, so this government must go.
“This victory march is meant to thank the people of Ekiti State and to finally break down the wall of Jericho, because I know we shall triumph for I have the people behind me. After winning, I am going to Abuja to be President of Nigeria. I will take power from Buhari in 2019 and that shall come to pass”.
Fayose appealed to Ekiti electorate to register in the ongoing Continuous voter registration, so that they can have the opportunity to ‘dismantle’ the APC in 2018.”
Speaking on the dominance of the PDP in Ekiti, Fayose said: “Ekiti is the only state that has a house without opposition member. You find them in Oyo , Ondo and others.
“Even all the members of House of Representatives and Senate are all PDP. But from this moment, I dash out Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki to APC”, he said.
Raji-Rasaki, the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial district has been embroiled in crisis with Fayose over her alleged conviviality with the members of the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP.
